Oh man she is loving this look and I think I am too! It's her party dress for the holiday season. Well and her church dress. And her 'wear to school on special days' dress...you get the idea. She wants to wear it everywhere of course so I took these shots quickly before it begins to show signs of actually being worn everywhere. If you care for a child, you know what I am talking about!
That HAT! Can anyone say Jackie O??? It's Dolin O'Shea's hat from Carla Hegeman Crim's book Sewn Hats. It was very fiddly. Okay but consider the source. I have gotten to where I wing it on patterns because I have my preferred methods of construction but, you know, when you have only made one hat you really need to follow the instructions still on the second one. I tried. I really tried! The instructions are very good, there are only two basic pattern pieces you are working with, just pin a LOT and you will be fine. It was well worth trying out 'new to me' construction methods. We both like how the hat turned out. You need to make this hat!
The dress. THEEEEE DRESS! We both love this dress pattern. It's the Marissa Sis Boom pattern for girls. My daughter outgrew her Honey Child fabric by Sis Boom version of this dress so, for her birthday I made her a new one out of the gorgeous Madison print from Happy Land by Jennifer Paganelli. You need this entire fabric line! Just sayin'!
She has been dying to wear this outfit since I finished it. She said she feels so famous when she wears the whole outfit. Makes me giggle. But you know it is a little on the glamorous side of fashion and I think that is a good thing. For a little girl it's a girly and sweet kind of glamor. You know how it is when you put something on that just makes you happy and feel dressed up? That is a good feeling. I am glad she likes to wear it and it makes her feel like she is a famous person. =D
So get the patterns and sew them up. Don your favorite gloves, sparkly shoes, and faux fur shrug and go feel famous! It's time for holiday sparkle and cheer!
Now I need to make her Christmas dress...HEY when your mom loves Sis
Boom fabrics and loves to sew for you, you are gonna get a lot of
dresses and they are going to be make from the prettiest fabrics
available! Jennifer Paganelli is my absolute favorite. If you have not heard about her you can find her here.
